?The New York Giants released quarterback Josh Freeman five weeks after signing him. Freemans stock has plummeted since last season, when he was Tampa Bays starting quarterback. He was benched and then cut by the Buccaneers, signed with the Vikings and started one game. The Giants signed him as their 15th veteran free agent in the offseason, adding Freeman to the roster because starting quarterback Eli Manning and backup Curtis Painter had undergone surgery.

?The NFL suspended New York Giants safety Will Hill for six games for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Hill has failed three drug tests since 2012. He will be eligible to return on Oct. 13.

?The Green Bay Packers signed first-round pick Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, an Alabama safety who was selected with the 21st pick in the draft. In 38 career games, he had 100 tackles and seven interceptions.

?The Indianapolis Colts signed third-round draft pick Donte Moncrief, a receiver who started 37 games at Mississippi and finished No. 3 on the schools career receptions list with 156 in three seasons.

?Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is the latest NFL player to be featured as part of Campbells Chunky Soup Mamas Boy campaign. Sherman will be featured in ads that also star his mother, Beverly.

??Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning signed an endorsement deal with Nationwide Insurance and will be featured in national advertising.
