Thunder 3, RubberDucks 2 (10)

Chris Gittens delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly to right field to lift the league-leading Trenton Thunder over the visiting RubberDucks Monday for their third consecutive win.

Ducks outfielder Tyler Krieger evened the score at 2-2 in the top of the ninth with a single to right field to bring in pinch runner Andrew Calica and send the game to extra innings.

The only other run for the Ducks came in the seventh when Todd Hankins doubled to left field to score Daniel Salters.

After starting the bottom of the 10th with Trey Amburgey on second base, Billy McKinney sacrificed him to third to set up Gittens’ sacrifice fly.

David Speer was tagged with the loss after coming on in relief to start the 10th.

After starter Matt Whitehouse gave up two runs in 3⅓ innings, the next four relievers combined to put up 5⅔ innings of shutout ball before Speer gave up the game-winner.

The Ducks (21-16) have lost five of their last six.
