The University of Akron football team completed its first winning season in 10 years Friday with a 20-0 victory at home over rival Kent State.

The Zips also end a 10-year bowl drought, but an invitation isnt a sure thing. There are seven bowl-eligible teams in the MAC, but only six will receive a bowl invitation.

A strike against the team is its attendance: Last year, the Zips had the lowest attendance among all 125 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision teams.

Nonetheless, coach Terry Bowden, who joined the team in 2013 after the previous coach went 2-22, has his hopes set on the Bahamas Bowl. I aint gonna lie, he said.

Here are the last two winning seasons:

2015-16: Regular season, 7-5 record, Mid-American Conference, 5-3.

2005-06: Regular season, 7-6 record, 6-3 in the MAC, after beating Northern Illinois 31-30 in the MAC Championship Game and losing to Memphis 38-31 in the Motor City Bowl in Detroit.
