The University of Akron's defense delivered a shutout and held the Kent State Golden Flashes to  135 total yards Friday at InfoCision Stadium, allowing the Zips to reclaim the coveted Wagon Wheel the trophy of this backyard rivalry.

It was the Zips first shutout in the series since 1985. The UA defense forced three turnovers, all on fumbles and the offense held the ball for 40:59 of the game. Linebacker Jatavis Brown led the Zips with eight tackles, followed by Dylan Evans with six tackles.

UA quarterback connected on 11-of-19 passes for 140 yards and rushed for 84 yards on 14 carries. Conor Hundley led all Zips runners with 98 yards on 22 carries. Jerome Lane led the Zips with X receptions for 75 yards.

Safety Nate Holley led Kent State with 16 tackles followed by Matt Dellinger with nine tackles.
