The Zips improved to 5-3 in the Mid-American Conference (11-8 overall), thanks to a strong first half in which they scored 45 points on the road Thursday.

The Zips shot 52.8 percent from the floor on 19-of-36 shooting and 45.5 percent from the 3-point range on 5-of-11 shooting in the first half, led by Hanna Luburgh’s 13 points.

Luburgh finished with 23 and led the Zips in scoring. Rachel Tecca added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Carly Young (15 points) and Anita Brown (10) contributed off the bench.

The Rockets (9-10, 4-4) were led by Inma Zanoguera (13 points), Brianna Jones (11), Ana Capotosto (10) and Janice Monakana (10).

The victory gives the Zips a four-game winning streak, dating back to a 77-51 home victory over Kent State on Jan. 18.

The Zips return to Akron on Sunday to host Buffalo at 2 p.m
