There were three lead changes in the second game of a doubleheader and a seventh-inning comeback that fell just short as the visiting Bulldogs (5-10) held on for the win.
Woodridge added two needed insurance runs in the top of the seventh, before the Royals (10-7) put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh inning.
A two-run single by Jordan Budrevich brought CVCA within two, but the game ended in the next at-bat with a ground-out to third.
Sophomore shortstop Hailey Scupholm led the Bulldogs with four singles, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.
