Two teenaged girls were arrested on robbery charges after the mother of one of the girls told police they were involved in the assault and robbery of a woman.

The girls, ages 16 and 14, were arrested following the robbery Thursday afternoon near Johnston and Windsor streets.

Akron police say the mother approached officers shortly after the robbery in which a 26-year-old woman was punched in the face and robbed of her wallet about 3 p.m.

The mother told police the girls were involved and the teens were subsequently arrested. Each admitted their involvement, police said.

The wallet was also recovered. The victim suffered a swollen lip, but declined medical treatment, police said.
