Drug deactivation pouch highlights

• Get a free pouch at any Akron-area Acme pharmacy. Find locations at www.acmestores.com.

• Bags come in large and small sizes.

• To use, put medicine in the bag, fill bag with warm tap water, wait about 30 seconds and throw it in the trash.

• Organizations that want larger quantities of bags should contact Alyce Jennings at the Summit County Community Partnership at 330-374-0947 or ajennings@cpsummit.org.

D.U.M.P. (Dispose of Unused Medicines Properly) sites

• Summit County Public Health medicine disposal boxes can be found at police departments in Akron, Barberton, Bath Township, Copley Township, Cuyahoga Falls, Fairlawn, Green-Sheriff Training Center, Hudson, Macedonia, Munroe Falls, New Franklin, Richfield village, Stow, Tallmadge and Twinsburg and emergency departments at Summa Akron City and Summa Barberton hospitals.

• Put medicines in the boxes (most are former postal drop boxes painted yellow).

• Boxes are for pills, capsules and liquid; no syringes or aerosols. For syringe disposal, call 330-926-5600.
