A 7-year-old boy is dead following a four-vehicle crash on Saturday in Northfield Center Township.

Kahlil Pulliam was in a vehicle struck shortly before 1 p.m. on the state Route 8 north exit ramp to Interstate 271. He died of his wounds. Another 7-year-old boy was seriously injured as well. The boy who survived is in stable condition at Akron Children’s Hospital, where the Summit County Sheriff’s Office reported he was transported by helicopter.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crash occurred when a 34-year-old woman driving a 2014 Honda Accord failed to keep an assured clear distance and struck a 2014 Honda Odyssey driven by a 49-year-old woman. The two boys, who were not wearing seat belts, were passengers in the Accord.

The crash caused the roadway to close partially for four hours.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office reported.
