Events around the world on Wednesday evening will memorialize those lost to drug overdoses.

Locally, some events are planned for Akron, Stow, Medina and Wadsworth.

In Akron, Summit County Community Partnership organized a four-hour broadcast on radio station WAKR 1590 AM. The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include information about prevention efforts to fight the ongoing heroin crisis. Listeners can participate by calling 330-869-9724.

In Stow, Medina and Wadsworth, vigils with speakers will be held. The Stow event will begin 7 p.m. at Stow City Hall, 3760 Darrow Road. The Medina event will last 5 to 8 p.m. in the city’s Public Square. Wadsworth’s event, which will also include music, will go from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the city’s Memorial Park.
