Woodridge sophomore Abbe Esterak scored a career-high 27 points and set a school record for made free throws in a season with 116 during a 77-43 win over host Waterloo on Wednesday.

Woodridge’s previous record belonged to Lisa Flasco, who made 111 free throws in the 1989-1990 season.

Woodridge is 6-11 overall and 3-7 in the Portage Trail Conference County Division.

Wadsworth stays perfect

Wadsworth’s girls basketball team kept its perfect record intact with a 42-19 Suburban League victory over visiting Copley on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jodi Johnson and senior Taylor Wyatt led the Grizzlies (17-0, 10-0) with 11 points apiece. Senior Peyton Booth chipped in eight points for Wadsworth.

Chippewa wins again

Two sophomores and a freshman guided Chippewa’s girls basketball team to its 16th win of the season Wednesday at home in a 67-29 victory over Northwest.

Sophomore Carly Koncz made five 3-pointers and totaled 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Chippewa (16-1). Sophomore Ashley Richardson and freshman Taylor Richards also reached double figures with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

Manchester junior excels

Manchester junior basketball player Alex Klein scored 32 points to lead her team to a 65-52 victory over host Tuslaw on Wednesday.

Sophomore Grier Cowles scored nine points and freshman Sam VanScoy added eight points for the Panthers (10-6, 8-3 PAC).

Twinsburg sweeps Stow

The host Twinsburg girls basketball team defeated Stow 48-40 Wednesday to earn a series sweep this season.

Seniors Baleigh Reid (22 points) and Marisa Howard (12 points) led the Tigers (9-9, 3-3 NOC Valley). Junior Morgan Thompson scored 12 points for Stow (15-4, 4-3).
