CHICAGO: Since Aug.14, Chris Seddon has done nothing but work out of the bullpen, even though he started for most of the year at Triple-A Columbus.

In 11 appearances, Seddon has compiled a 3.93 ERA in 18? innings.

“He’s got a resilient arm, but we’re not handing out jobs [for 2013] in September,” Acta said. “He’s pitched out of the bullpen before.”

ONE MORE DAY (AT LEAST) — Michael Brantley remained on the bench for a second consecutive day with a sore groin.

“He’s getting one more day for sure,” Acta said. “We’ll check on him again tomorrow.”

BIG TEST TODAY — Roberto Hernandez will throw a three-inning simulated game to test his ankle sprain more than his arm.

“There’s a possibility that it won’t be good enough tomorrow,” Acta said. “It’s about fielding his position. He can throw. If we don’t think the ankle is good enough now, he’ll throw another simulated game and call it a season.”

OTHER STUFF —The Indians ended a six-game losing streak against the Chicago White Sox and are 23-11 in one-run games. … In the past nine games, the Tribe’s team batting average is .296. … During that span, Jason Kipnis is batting .316 with three RBI and seven runs.
