A man who drove a lawn tractor into an OVI checkpoint Friday night in Stark County was arrested for driving with a suspended license, sheriff’s deputies said.
The story was posted on the sheriff’s department’s Facebook page Saturday and did not identify the man.
Deputies say the man was driving his lawn tractor near their checkpoint on state Route 172 near the Canton and East Canton city line to pickup a pizza Friday night.
“Unfortunately, he chose the only pizza place in town that had a checkpoint set up out front,” the department posted.
Deputies say the man was stopped and records showed he has a suspended license and arrest warrants pending.
“This came as quite a shock to the man, as he thought driving the mower on a suspended license would keep him out of trouble! He was wrong,” deputies said.
The man was taken to the Stark County Jail and the tractor was towed.
“No word on what happened to the pizza he ordered,” deputies said.
