Akron police say the man seen in a video they released earlier this week is not involved in the March 12 hit-and-run crash that injured a boy on his way to school.

Police released the video Tuesday asking the publicís help in identifying the man. By Thursday morning, they released an alert saying the man has been cleared as a suspect and is not involved.

Police have yet to identify the driver whose red pickup truck hit Dawayne Grant, 11, as he was crossing South Arlington Street to catch a Metro RTA bus to Hyre middle school.

The boy was treated for a broken leg, a neck injury, and cuts and bruises to his arms, face and body.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Akron police at 330-375-2490 or anonymously call Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-2677, or text TIPSCO plus the tip to 274637. Tipsters may qualify for a cash reward.
