A 43-year-old Akron woman was attacked early Tuesday morning by a man who pushed her to the ground and tried to stab her during an attempted robbery, police said.
The woman was treated at Summa Akron City Hospital for scratches and bruises to her neck and abdomen. A suspect has not been identified.
Police interviewed the victim at the hospital where she was taken by her boyfriend following the early morning attack near Iroquois and Laffer avenues in Goodyear Heights.
The woman said she left a Newton Street bar just after midnight and was walking when the man appeared and demanded money. When she told him she had no cash, the man became angry, pushed her to the ground and struck her several times, a report shows.
At one point, the man pulled out a knife and tried to stab the woman’s neck and abdomen, police said. She eventually freed herself and the man fled. The woman called her boyfriend for help and the two went to the East Market Street hospital emergency room.
