Tallmadge police say the cause of a weekend fire inside a building housing two automotive businesses is considered “suspicious.”

No one was injured during the fire Sunday at 390 Geneva Ave.

On Monday, Tallmadge police released a statement calling the fire a potential case of arson.

According to the statement by Lt. Ron Williams, “the fire is suspicious in nature” and is being investigated by Tallmadge fire investigators, state fire marshals and Tallmadge police.

TR Recovery and Cox Auto Craft are located in the building. A secondary fire was discovered on nearby on city of Tallmadge property, where a pile of PVC pipe had ignited, Williams said.

Investigators believe the fire likely started in a large storage shed area that was attached to the rear of the building.
