Two people have been arrested in connection with the beating death of a Canton man late Saturday.

James M. Harris, 69, died of blunt force trauma when he went to his ex-girlfriend’s house on Minota Avenue in Akron.

On Monday, police said detectives have arrested Paul A. Reed, 38, and Tiffany A. Powell, 32, both of Minota Avenue.

Harris and Powell have children together, police said.

Police say Reed and Powell arranged for Harris to come over to their home to purchase a car. When he arrived, Harris went inside, where police say he was attacked by Reed.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death a homicide and the manner of death as blunt-force trauma to the head.

Reed and Powell are charged with aggravated murder and obstructing official business. They are being held in the Summit County Jail.
