A woman who demanded money from a gas station clerk fled the Akron store after being warned that an alarm had been triggered.

The attempted robbery happened about 11 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Hill Sunoco, 2514 Mogadore Road.

Police say the woman donned a surgical mask, went inside and demanded money. The clerk, however, thought she was joking and ignored her commands until she put her hand in her pocket and said she had a gun.

The clerk told the woman he already had pushed the holdup alarm, and the female fled on foot empty-handed, police said.

She is described as white and in her 30s. She has strawberry blonde hair and wore blue jeans and three layers of hooded sweatshirts.
