Tuesday was the first day the new veteran identification cards were available in the Summit County Fiscal Office, which is located in the Ohio Building, 175 S. Main St., Akron.
To acquire a card, veterans should report to the office’s Recorder Division on the fourth floor, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cost for an ID card is $1. Two forms of identification are needed; one must include a photo.
Discharge papers also will be recorded for free when veterans get their ID cards.
Parking in the county deck on High Street is free with a validation stamp obtained in the county office.
