CONSOL Energy this week outlined plans to begin drilling under Pittsburgh's airport.
The company expects to spend $500 million to drill 47 wells from six well pads near the 9,263-acre airport.
The horizontal wells in the Marcellus shale will run under the airport.
Drilling could begin next year with natural gas beginning to flow in 2015.
