COLUMBUS: The FBI has increased the award for helping apprehend a suspect in up to 20 bank robberies in central Ohio who they’ve dubbed the “Buckeye Bandit.”
The agency announced the $10,000 amount Wednesday following a Sunday bank robbery in Dublin in suburban Columbus which the agency believes was committed by the same person.
Investigators say the individual they’re seeking is a suspect in robberies in Columbus, the suburbs of Gahanna, Worthington and Upper Arlington and at Ohio State University between 2013 and this year. He’s also suspected of robbing a Columbus pharmacy three times.
The FBI says the suspect wore Ohio State apparel during several robberies and more recently has worn winter clothes including a scarf around his face. Investigators say the man often displays a handgun.
