1. Winger and FireHouse at Civic. Despite a couple of breakups and the ridicule of “Beavis and Butt-head,” Winger just keeps going. The band will bring hits like “Seventeen” and “Miles Away” to the Akron Civic Theatre at 8 p.m., with openers FireHouse (“Love of a Lifetime” and "When I Look Into Your Eyes"). Tickets are $35-$35 at akroncivic.com.

2. Kwanzaa celebration. Akron City-Wide Kwanzaa celebrates the principle of Ujima (collective work and responsibility) at 6 p.m. at the Alpha Center, 662 Wolf Ledges Parkway, Akron. It’s hosted by Project Ujima (naturally) and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. ETL Chapter. Find out more at facebook.com/events/2215749795354346/.

3. For the birds. Stir-crazy kids have a couple of opportunities to get outside and out of Mom and Dad’s hair. Bring your hot dogs to the School’s Out Cookout at the Seiberling Nature Realm in Akron from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and learn about how animals survive the winter. At the Liberty Park Nature Center in Twinsburg, you can take a hike along the Bluebird Trail at 4:30 p.m. and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and a campfire. Call 330-865-8065 for more information on either event.
