Watch some football: Fairly or not, Ohio State is not playing in the College Football Playoff National Championship this year, but the Rose Bowl is a pretty nice consolation prize. See Urban Meyer coach what he says will be his last game beginning at 5 p.m. on ESPN. Other bowl games today include the Sugar (Texas vs. Georgia, 8:45 p.m., ESPN); Fiesta (UCF vs. LSU, 1 p.m., ESPN); Citrus (Kentucky vs. Penn State, 1 p.m., ABC); and Outback (Mississippi State vs. Iowa, noon, ESPN2).

Enjoy a parade: For some, the best part of the Rose Bowl isn’t the game, it’s the Rose Parade. See the annual avalanche of flowers and other glorious botanicals beginning at 11 a.m. on several channels, including NBC, ABC and the Hallmark Channel.

Celebrate Kwanzaa: The final event in the Akron City-Wide Kwanzaa celebrates Imani (Faith) at 3 p.m. at the YMCA, 888 Jonathan Ave. The Akron Rites of Passage Institute Council of Elders is hosting. 330-867-5122.
