"Eating local" is a hot trend for restaurants. Few pursue it with more enthusiasm than The Rail.

The place specializes in burgers, and the meats are all Ohio-raised — beef, chicken, pork, andouille sausage, bacon. One offering, Crouching Burger (Hidden Bacon), combines beef, pulled pork and bacon in one luscious creation. The Local Yokel is crowned with a fried egg, also Ohio-raised. The Mojo Burger blends beef and andouille and tops it with jalapeño slaw. Veggie burgers are an option, as are gluten-free buns.

Appetizers and sides include decadent smoked Gouda mac and cheese bites, fried pickles, housemade tater tots and satisfyingly thick, crunchy potato chips. The local emphasis even extends behind the bar, with an assortment of Ohio craft beers on tap, Ohio-made spirits in the cocktails and wines from area producers such as Ferrante and Firelands. Our Local Yokel beef burger paired well with a glass of Mariola Family cabernet franc, named for chef/owner Mike Mariola.
