1. Are you ready for some football? It’s Super Bowl Sunday, so most of today’s activities involve sitting around the TV, whether it’s for the actual game or counterprogramming. The New England Patriots (sigh, again) take on the Los Angeles (not St. Louis) Rams at 6:30 p.m. on CBS. For those who just can’t get enough announcer blather, pregame coverage begins at noon. The halftime show features Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi. The new talent competition show "The World's Best" premieres after the game.
2. Puppies and kittens. Fur will be flying on two channels. Puppy Bowl romps across your screen beginning at 3 p.m. on Animal Planet, with its own pregame show at 2. Over on the Hallmark Channel, meet-cute couples make way for cute kitties at noon for this season’s Kitten Bowl. Several channels are airing marathons (“The Office” on Comedy Central, “The Simpsons” on FXX, “Family Guy” on TBS). If you like sports but not football, NBCSN will air the Curling World Cup men’s gold medal game, followed by ski jumping and luge.
3. Who? Who? Who? Before the game gets started, take the kids to a free Superb Owl Sunday (get it?) program at 1 p.m. at the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm. Participants will learn more about the predatory birds. The park is at 1828 Smith Road in Akron.
