The iconic wines of central California's Justin Vineyards will highlight this year's Auction 24 to benefit the Akron Art Museum.

This event is the museum's largest fundraiser. Mark your calendar for 6 p.m. to midnight June 8 at the museum.

Lauren Trendler, certified sommelier of Justin/Landmark Vineyards will be in attendance. Justin wines will be served along with JNSQ and Landmark wines, which are all part of the same brand.

The auction items always include many rare and valuable bottles of wine along with California wine trips and high-end dining experiences. The opportunity to taste the $76 Justin Isosceles would cross off a bucket list experience for me. Exquisite wining and dining in the atrium of one of the coolest buildings in downtown would be quite ritzy.

I'm sure these wines will taste even more fabulous with the food prepared by Marigold Catering on the night of the auction, but I thought it might be fun to get a sneak peek beforehand. So I had a private preview party in the comfort of my kitchen.

One of the wines being poured at the auction dinner will be Justin's entry-level cabernet sauvignon, which is priced at $24.99. The wine is rich and velvety with inviting aromas of elderberry and blackberry. I enjoyed a glass with a grilled thick-cut chop from Leach's Meats & Sweets in Barberton along with some yummy homemade garlic smashed potatoes.

Another wine featured on that grand night will be Landmark pinot noir. It's one of those wines that drinks like a bottle twice the price. I sampled this $19.99 beauty with stuffed mushrooms, and a few goat cheese crostini topped with cherry spread and a fresh sprig of thyme.

Buy both of these wines at Market District Cuyahoga Falls, 750ml Akron and Brecksville, Heinen's Brecksville, Fishers on Fulton and Acme #1. Papa Joe's sells the wines and is having a wine dinner Friday featuring Justin wines. Price is $85 and includes five courses. Call 330-923-7999 to reserve a seat.

Tickets for Auction 24 at the museum start at $300. Buy tickets, check out the food menu and preview some of the auction items at https://akronartmuseum.org/auction/.
