Wednesday is the last day to buy a 2018 Summit County dog license without paying a late penalty.

All dogs more than three months old are required to be licensed.

Cost for one year is $18; a three-year license is $54; a lifetime license is $180.

Dog owners will need to pay a late penalty of $18 per dog if they miss the deadline.

Kennel owners also need to renew or buy licenses Wednesday as well.

People can register their dogs or kennels online and pay via credit card or electronic check. License registration forms are available to download and print at http://FiscalOffice.summitoh.net.

Owners may submit their registration and payment by mail or in person to the Summit County Fiscal Office, Services Department, 1030 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron, OH 44310.

AKRON: Summit County’s dog and cat Adopt-a-Thon takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Animal Control Facility, 250 Opportunity Parkway.

Dogs and cats will be made available for adoption from the Division of Animal Control for $10 per animal (regularly $94 per dog, $60 per cat).

The animals, which will be ready to be taken home, will be fully vetted, including blood work, flea treatments and intestinal de-worming. They will also be vaccinated and spayed/neutered.

Citizens who adopt a dog will also be required to purchase a 2018 Summit County Dog License for $18.

Residents may also donate dog and cat food for the animals housed at the shelter during the Adopt-a-Thon.
