Akron-based DRB Systems announced Tuesday that it has acquired the assets and intellectual property of Sage Microsystems in Exton, Pa.

DRB provides technology-enabled devices and software to the car wash industry. Sage’s flagship QuickTouch and NexGen product lines offer point of sale and software to the quick lube industry.

“Bob and Joan Sampson have built a great team and an amazing product,” DRB CEO Dan Pittman said in a prepared statement. “We are truly excited to welcome the team into the DRB Systems family. We pride ourselves in best-of-breed applications and support for our segments — this partnership gives us a great position in the lube and light repair space.”

Bob Sampson, CEO of Sage, noted that the car wash and quick lube industries are a natural fit.

“A unified solution with our two top brands will be powerful,” he said in a prepared statement. “DRB’s company culture matches Sage’s perfectly, as does their commitment to excellence. We are excited to work with them to take Sage to the next level.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
