This week's free Movies@Main at the Akron-Summit County Public Library in downtown Akron is "Ocean's 8." The film features an all-female gang. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The play "Rebranding the City: A Humanizing Tour of Akron" will be performed at the Akron Art Museum on Thursday in the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden. Penned by Josy Jones and Katie Beck, the work is based on interviews with residents from all 24 Akron neighborhoods tackling topics from dating to immigration to addiction to racism. It is presented by @PLAY, a Knight Cities project. The play starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Coming up mums
The free Barberton Mum Festival is Saturday and Sunday. Lake Anna Park will come to life with 17,000 chrysanthemums, creating more than a million mum blooms. There will be displays, activities, food and entertainment both days. For more, visit cityofbarberton.com.
The film "Kusama: Infinity" will be shown Saturday at the Akron Art Museum. The showing coincides with Yayoi Kusama’s "Infinity Mirrors" exhibit in Cleveland. Filmmaker Heather Lenz became familiar with Kusama’s work while an intern at the Akron Art Museum. She set out to create a documentary about the artist. Lenz will be at the 1 p.m. film showing to answer questions. Cost is $5. Visit akronartmuseum.org to reserve a seat.
Buzzing with activity
The Akron Zoo is hosting its first Honey Harvest Festival on Sunday. The event, which is included in regular zoo admission, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be zookeeper talks, beekeepers, music and crafts along with honey wine tastings and related treats.
