DOYLESTOWN — The community is mourning the death of retired police K-9 Qoose.

The Wayne County police department posted photos and a tribute to the canine officer, who had retired in 2016, on Facebook Tuesday.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of K-9 Qoose," the post said. "Chief Casey Tester and Qoose were partners from August 2006 to May 2016. Qoose patrolled the village with Chief Tester, assisted neighboring agencies when called upon, and was responsible for numerous drug arrests throughout his career. Since his retirement in 2016, Qoose spent his final years living with his handler and the rest of the Tester family. To the Testers, he was always more that a police dog, he was a family member. RIP Qoose. We’ll take it from here."

The post had received more than 250 comments as of Wednesday afternoon.
