Squeals of delight filled the corridors of the I Promise School in Akron once again Wednesday, but this time they weren't for the hometown NBA hero who has made a mission out of helping children through the new learning center.
Pop superstar Justin Timberlake and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, paid a visit to the LeBron James Family Foundation-affiliated public school, rolling into town the day after Timberlake's concert at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
The two celebrities took some time to greet I Promise students and staff and joined them for an assembly.
I Promise is a partnership between the LeBron James Family Foundation and Akron Public Schools. It opened in late July to third- and fourth-graders who are falling behind their peers academically. The curriculum aims to adopt the foundation's "We Are Family" philosophy, infuse it with STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and take into account the struggles and traumas in students' lives to provide "social-emotional learning."
