Trek Brewing Co. has been in soft opening mode for while now.
That changes Friday (Nov. 23), when the Newark brewery holds its grand opening from 3 to 10 p.m. — an event that will feature an upgraded beer menu, Odie's BarbeQue, a ribbon cutting and five nonprofits sharing their stories.
Trek had been serving only one or two of its beers for awhile because co-founder John Ream had been brewing on a one-barrel system. But the brewery has fired up its 15-barrel system and has filled out its beer menu for the grand opening.
Here's what will be on tap:
• Canteen Cream Ale
• Scarlet Red Ale
• Weekend Wanderer Pale Ale
• Solo Hike IPA
• Trail Magik Vanilla Stout
• Stoic Strength Imperial Stout
There may be one or two more, Ream said.
"We're really excited to have all the beer available," he said. "One of the best things is not having to explain why we have only one or two of our beers available and seeing the disappointing look on their faces."
The ribbon cutting is set for 3:30 p.m. There also will be five nonprofits — Mental Health America of Licking County, Licking County Humane Society, Licking County Family YMCA, Habitat for Humanity and Kiwanis Club of Newark — on scene talking about their missions. One dollar from each pint sold will go to the nonprofits.
Trek, located in a former Damon's restaurant, wants to become a gathering place and give back to the local community, Ream said.
