A former Cuyahoga Falls High School guidance counselor entered a guilty plea to a third-degree felony sexual battery charge Monday in Summit County Common Pleas Court during her final pretrial hearing.

Her attorney, Michael T. Callahan, could not immediately be reached for comment.

A county grand jury indicted Rebecca Sparrow in April in connection with an allegation that she engaged in “sexual conduct” with a Cuyahoga Falls High School student in 2016. The school district placed her on administrative leave in January and she resigned in April. The case was before Judge Amy Corrigall Jones.

Sparrow had a trial scheduled for Dec. 11. She remains free on a personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 28 sentencing hearing.
