CUYAHOGA FALLS — A Ruth Avenue man has been charged with first-degree felony attempted murder in connection with an allegation that he tried to shoot another person in a State Road parking lot Saturday.

According to Stow Municipal Court records, 55-year-old Patrick J. Neman is also charged with fourth-degree felony improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, first-degree misdemeanor using weapons while intoxicated and minor misdemeanor open container.

Lawrence Whitney, Neman’s attorney, said Neman entered felony no pleas to the felony charges and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanors at his arraignment Monday morning. He is being held in Summit County Jail on a 10 percent of $500,000 bond.

Whitney declined to comment on the case.

Neman is scheduled for a Dec. 5 felony status hearing before Judge Kim Hoover.

Police said they responded to a report of a man with a gun in the parking lot of the Family Video store at 2967 State Road at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Police said they found Neman in the parking lot and subsequently found a loaded .38-caliber revolver in his vehicle nearby.

During an investigation, police said they determined that Neman allegedly pointed the gun at another person in the parking lot and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not discharge and no one was injured. Police said the alleged victim was able to run away and call police.

Police said the incident is related to ongoing domestic issues.

An open bottle of brandy was also found in Neman’s vehicle, police said.
