I am a bit of a sangiovese freak. It is such a versatile grape. Italy presents many different expressions of wine made from sangiovese. Brunello and Chianti are the most familiar. But Marche? That's the region in central Italy that borders the Adriatic Sea on the east, and Tuscany on the west. I confess that I had never heard of Marche. My first sip of Parolvini's, however, was quite memorable.

The most amazing thing was that it paired well with all the food at my friend's 60th birthday party: shrimp, crab salad, grilled pork, roasted turkey, cured black olives. This doesn't happen very often. Certainly not in the $12.99 price range. It's another one of those wines you purchase by the case. Tell your guests you paid $30, and they'll never give it a second thought.

Buy this wine at Heinen's Hudson and Aurora, and all Fishers locations.
