CUYAHOGA FALLS: A man was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash on state Route 8 late Friday night that closed a section of the highway for more than four hours, according to Cuyahoga Falls police.

The crash occurred at 10:39 p.m. on Route 8 southbound at Second Street, when the driver struck a pole and the center median, according to a news release issued by Falls police.

Investigators for the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and the Summit Metro Crash Team were summoned to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by those agencies as well as Falls police.

Falls police Sgt. Mark Enos said the southbound lanes of Route 8 between Front Street and Graham Road were closed until about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said the identity of the driver would be released Monday.
