BRIMFIELD — The Brimfield Police Department has released the name of the man who died on Wednesday night in a pedestrian versus car crash.

The pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at Akron City Hospital Wednesday night, is Thomas “Jason” Clements, 52, of Brimfield, said Brimfield Police Department Capt. Chris Adkins.

Adkins said Clements was crossing Route 43 in Brimfield eastbound. Clements was in a crosswalk, Adkins said. However, the driver had a green light and the crosswalk signal would not have been activated.

The accident occurred on Route 43 just north of Tallmadge Road Wednesday evening. Brimfield Fire Lt. John Carter said his department was called out to the scene at 7:23 p.m.

The driver who hit the pedestrian was a 65-year-old Streetsboro man and was driving a 1995 Buick LeSabre.

The driver has not been charged and the accident is still under investigation. However, Adkins said that the driver would be listed on the report as not at fault.

The driver submitted to a voluntary drug and alcohol test, the results of which are not yet available.

The coroner’s office will conduct tests on Clements to determine if he was impaired.
