A teenage pedestrian was taken to University Hospitals in Cleveland by medical helicopter early Thursday evening after being struck by a truck on state Route 14 near Foxwood Drive in the northeast quadrant of Ravenna.
According to the Ravenna post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, the accident occurred near Portage Community Chapel. Troopers reported the Ravenna 17-year-old was walking westward and stepped out into the roadway when he was struck by a westbound semi rig.
The patrol said the man suffered possible life-threatening injuries, and was transported first to UH-Portage Medical Center by the Ravenna Township Fire Department, then was taken by medical helicopter to UH in Cleveland.
The accident occurred at about 5:15 p.m., and Route 14 between Routes 59 and 88 was closed until the scene was cleared at about 6:50 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
