Akron police are searching for whoever shot to death a 29-year-old man whose body was found in the backyard of an Edgewood Avenue home on Christmas Eve morning.
The man has been identified as Nino Thomas III, 29, of Akron, Akron police said in a Wednesday evening news release. No suspects have been identified.
Thomas' body was found in a yard in the 400 block of Edgewood Avenue. Police received a call at 9 a.m. Monday of a “man down” and found Thomas with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said no weapon was found at the scene.
The 400 block of Edgewood Avenue is near where the road intersects with Copley Road. Edgewood runs along the Akron Zoo between Euclid Avenue and Copley Road/South Maple Street.
