Public service: Assistant to the county executive of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, 1974-75. Chief assistant to the county manager of Baltimore County, Maryland, 1976-80. Tallmadge safety service director, 1980-82. Summit County Council at-large member, 1985-2006. Assistant Portage County prosecutor, 1991-2006. Summit County Common Pleas Court judge, 2007-2018, serving as presiding judge in 2008 and 2009.

Unsuccessful bids for judge: Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court, 1997 and 2003; Summit County Common Pleas Court, 2000.

Notre Dame representation: A Notre Dame graduate has served on the Summit County Common Pleas bench for 65 years.

Will miss most about being judge: Deciding legal issues, such as those raised by attorneys in murder trials.

Will miss least about being judge: Call days, which are weekly sessions in which judges get updates on the dozens of cases on their dockets.
