Akron police are investigating two fatal accidents Sunday night.

In the first crash, a 61-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was killed in a one-car crash at 7:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of Akron-Peninsula Road.

The victim, who was driving a white 2003 Lexus ES300, was traveling northbound when he traveled off the road and struck a tree. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene at 8:01 p.m.

Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the accident, police said.

The second accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 77 northbound near the interchange with Interstate 76.

The 52-year-old victim, who was driving a blue 2017 Chevy Traverse, traveled off the highway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Two people also were killed in a separate two-vehicle crash at 2:28 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Lindsay Avenue in Akron. The Ohio State Highway Patrol previously reported that Nicholas Bobo Jr., 34, and Arielle Davis, 28, were killed in the accident when their vehicle was struck by another car.
