A former recovery coach at Oriana House is headed to prison for sexual assault.

Todd A. Mathews, 43, pleaded guilty Nov. 8 under an agreement with prosecutors to gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.

Summit County Common Pleas Judge Amy Corrigall Jones sentenced Mathews Monday to one year in prison and five years of probation.

Summit County sheriff’s deputies say Mathews drove a 31-year-old woman to a parking lot in Tallmadge May 4 and sexually assaulted her in a vehicle. They say he also engaged in sexual conduct with a 29-year-old woman April 21 at a residential correctional center on Power Street in Akron.

Mathews was originally charged with two counts each of gross sexual imposition and sexual imposition and one count each of kidnapping, abduction, unlawful restraint and sexual battery. He was represented by attorney Christopher Snyder.

Mathews was initially suspended from Oriana House without pay but has since been terminated.
