I am normally a burger-and-fries kind of guy, but my wife is trying to nudge (shove) me in a more healthy food direction. So while we were wandering around the new offerings at the Pinecrest lifestyle development in Orange Village, looking for a place to eat lunch, she steered us into the recently opened Next Door American Eatery instead of the Shake Shack across the way.

The menu has a lot of healthy choices from kale chips to vegan Impossible Burgers. She opted for the Next Door Roasted Veggie Bowl ($11.95) made with roasted cremini mushrooms, charred broccolini, bell pepper, cauliflower, caramelized onion, organic tri-color quinoa, sunflower seeds and the house cilantro tahini dressing.

I stayed comfortably in my lane and ordered the Fish & Chips ($14.95) with Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold beer-battered cod, a generous portion of fries, slaw and tartar sauce.

This is the first Ohio location for the Colorado-based chain owned by Kimbal Musk, brother of Elon. The interior has a cool urban feel not unlike his brother's sleek Tesla automobile. It was a yummy, trendy place to escape the winter's chill.

The place: Next Door American Eatery

Where: 211 Park Ave. in the Pinecrest development, in Orange Village off Interstate 271
