Akron police responded to two shootings, one of which stemmed from an argument over a handicapped parking spot, and a stabbing over the weekend.
The most serious incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, when officers responded to the 400 block of Adkins Avenue and found a 29-year-old man lying in a driveway with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, a 29-year-old man from Belvidere Way was shot in the lower left leg following an argument with another man over a handicapped parking spot. He was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is a bearded black man, 26 to 30 years old and 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet who lives on Belvidere Way.
Officers responded to Cleveland Clinic Akron General around 2 a.m. Saturday for a stabbing. A 20-year-old man told police he was at Score Bar and Grill, 426 E. Exchange St., when a fight broke out and he tried to help his friend. The man told police that during the fight, he was stabbed with an unknown object in the buttocks. He was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is a black man, 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch and 180 to 200 pounds with an Afro.
Police also responded to three reports of shots fired over the weekend.
In the 1300 block of Girard Street shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, a caller reported seeing two cars traveling north on Girard Street. The caller said the occupants of both cars had their arms out the window and were firing shots into the air. No injuries or damage was reported. Officers found four shell casings in the road.
Officers responded to Mr. Pantry, 950 Copley Road, shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday for shots fired and found several shell casings in the parking lot. Officers learned two vehicles were in the parking lot, with one male passenger firing shots. No people, vehicles or structures were struck.
Officers responded to the 600 block of Cliffside Drive around 7:30 p.m. Sunday after a 21-year-old man reported hearing shots fired and saw a dark-colored SUV driving south on Cliffside Drive. His vehicle, a 2007 Chevy Malibu, was struck several times. Officers found eight shell casings in the street.
