AKRON — A 47-year-old Akron man was robbed and pistol-whipped late Thursday as he walked along West Exchange Street near South Rhodes Avenue.
The man told officers he was heading to a store when two men approached him about 10:30 p.m. One of the men pointed a handgun and demanded the man’s money, police said.
After the man turned over his cash, the man with the gun hit him in the face several times several times with the weapon, knocking the man to the ground, police said.
The suspects fled and then the victim walked to a nearby store to call for help.
He was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General and treated for a cut lip, two missing teeth and bruising on is face.
Police are asking the public’s help to identify the men behind the robbery where the city's Highland Square and West Hill neighborhoods meet.
