BEREA — The number of vehicles traveling on the Ohio Turnpike dipped 1.6 percent last year.
The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission said Tuesday that a total of 54.3 million vehicles used the toll highway, down from 55.2 million the previous year.
The 241-mile turnpike travels across northern Ohio. The commission also said the highway was free of traffic backups 99.86 percent of the time last year.
“Customers expect safe and efficient travel and we delivered excellent value for their tolls in 2018 with an increase in our free-flowing traffic," Interim Executive Director Martin S. Seekely said in a prepared statement.
