Add another cold-weather inconvenience to the already long list — no trash pickup.

Republic Services suspended trash pickup Wednesday and Thursday for many areas, and won't return later this week for those customers affected. Instead, the trash hauler says it will be back next week on its regular pickup day.

"Due to the recent severe weather, Republic Services has modified operating hours and closed some facilities in the impacted areas," the company posted in a message on its Facebook page. "The safety of our employees and customers is our number one priority. We apologize for any inconvenience the service changes may cause and will communicate once normal operations resume."

Brunswick, Copley Township, Hudson and Tallmadge are among the Akron-area communities reporting that their residents are impacted by the decision.

Akron officials reported that the city's trash service is continuing as usual and on schedule.
