Four adults were displaced after a fire in Akron's Sherbondy Hill neighborhood on Thursday.

According to a news release from the Akron Fire Department, crews responded to an apartment fire in the 900 block of Russell Avenue and found heavy smoke coming from the residence.

Everyone was reported out of the house, but four adults were displaced because of the fire. The American Red Cross was notified.

According to the news release, there was heavy fire damage to the apartment and smoke damage to the apartment next door. The utilities have been disconnected, according to the fire department.

One firefighter was injured, according to the news release from the fire department. According to the Twitter account for the Akron firefighters' union, two firefighters were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and were released.

Because of Thursday's frigid temperatures, a Metro RTA bus was sent to the scene to keep firefighters and others warm.
