Fabric and craft specialty retailer Joann Stores named Wade Miquelon president, chief executive officer and to the company’s board.
Miquelon became interim CEO and president of the privately held Hudson retailer in October while also working as chief financial officer and executive vice president. The company said Miquelon led Joann through a successful holiday season.
The company also named longtime Joann executive and Chief Operating Officer Matt Susz as its new CFO.
“In his nearly three years with Joann, we have seen Wade [Miquelon] drive incredible positive change and business results,” John Yoon, principal of Leonard Green & Partners, said in a news release Tuesday. Leonard Green & Partners purchased Joann in 2011.
“We determined that Wade was the best fit to lead Joann, as he embraced the CEO role and earned the trust of the organization,” Yoon said. “Wade’s strategic vision, differentiated thinking, and open communication style are benefiting the culture and results at Joann and make him an excellent leader for the company.”
Miquelon said he is honored to be named to his new role.
“I believe we have a strong strategy that will help solidify Joann as the best creative destination in America, and will allow us to continue inspiring creativity for decades to come,” he said.
Miquelon joined Joann as CFO and executive vice president in March 2016.
He previously was executive vice president, CFO and president of international at Walgreen Co. Before that, he worked at Tyson Foods Inc. and Procter & Gamble Co.
He succeeded Jill Soltau as Joann’s CEO after Soltau was hired last October as CEO of retailer J.C. Penney. Joann had hired Soltau in 2015.
Susz, who joined Joann in 1996, will take over Miquelon’s duties as CFO. Over the years, Susz served in various roles across finance, information technology and operations. He previously was with Arthur Andersen LLP.
