Dog days of winter
Lock 3 is hosting Gone to the Dogs Weekend on Saturday and Sunday in the downtown Akron park. Cartoon dogs will make a visit while kids and their parents enjoy breakfast or lunch along with admission to the Akron Children's Museum, ice skating and polar putt-putt. Harry Potter naturally
There will be a free "Stars of Hogwarts" program from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm, 1828 Smith Road, in Akron. The program will explore how author J.K. Rowling took inspiration from the stars for some of her Harry Potter characters. Participants will learn about the celestial counterparts of characters from Hogwarts. The program will start indoors then move outside to spot wizards in the sky.

Lock 3 is hosting a Skate to the '90s event with music from the last decade of the last century. A DJ will be spinning tunes from the 1990s from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. The event is free and ice skates will be available for rent.
